| GC Partnership have been commissioned to design a new sports changing pavilion with the incorporation of a park office. GC Partnership worked with the Landscape Architects
to create a design that complimented the new design of the park. The design needed
not to compete with the listed building Valence House that adjoins the park however still
act as a focal point within the park. The park office has a commanding view of both the
park and the entrances to the public facilities giving a sense of security and acting as a
deterrent to anti-social behaviour with the natural surveillance afforded by the design.
The overhanging roof provides solar shading to the expansive glazing in addition to providing shelter for sports spectators along the side elevations and equally for families beneath the point of the roof which links to the pathway surrounding the children's play area adjacent the park office. The green roof design enables the pavilion to be consumed into the landscape when viewed from the buildings that surround the park and opportunity exists for the landscape bunding to be built up to roof level at the north end where it abuts the storage facilities. |
