The Queenborough and Rushenden Masterplan (QRM) covers an area of 160ha (400acres) on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, and involves the development of 2000 new homes, associated schools, retail and leisure space and 1.5m sq ft of employment uses and forms part of the Thames Gateway development strategy.

GCP were invited to join the Design team compiling the Masterplan and advise on all engineering and transport issues.
GCP produced a detailed traffic and transport assessment which was used as a basis for the design of the proposed Rushenden Relief Road.

The positive impact of the road in question was not only to open up the development areas but also relieve up to 90% of the current traffic on Main Road, Queenborough allowing shared surface possibilities and a much safer environment for pedestrians and cyclists.
