Hubbard's Hill was formerly a chalk quarry located on the North Downs, Kent in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The quarrying activities left a geologically important/significant chalk face, which has since been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The site was operated as an inert landfill in the1990's. Imported wastes were used to return the landscape to its pre-quarry levels. The chalk face SSSI was however retained. We were commissioned to surrender the Waste Management Licence to the Environment Agency (EA), who will only accept a surrender if it is considered that the site is unlikely to cause pollution of the environment or harm to human health.
