The project relates to the redevelopment of an existing 1930's factory which has an office frontage. The façade is locally listed and needed to be retained however the remainder of the office accommodation behind, and the sprawling series of attached portal framed structures and sheds could be demolished. The Client required the creation of two storey Office Units and double height Industrial/Storage Units, all for freehold sale. It was proposed that the façade retention should be fully expressed with the new buildings seemingly hinged away from the existing façade revealing modern contrasting glass boxes behind, as if the exterior walls had been peeled away. A new section of matching brickwork façade was also incorporated to further emphasize this. |
