Bedhampton Gyratory

Sector: Infrastructure

Service: Civil Engineering

Client: Edgmond Holdings

Project Value: £3,200,000

Project Status: Complete

The project comprises signalising and lane widening of an existing large grade separated gyratory and provision of an additional lane along a link road to cater for proposed increased traffic. The scheme design also required careful traffic management measures to be introduced to re-arrange the geometry to optimise the traffic flow. As well as all of the highway design, GC Partnership has undertaken the traffic data collection, the traffic signal design, the traffic management and addressed the transport issues.

A notable issue was related to cyclists using the link road. In maintaining cyclist use over the existing bridge, alterations are necessary to the bridge parapets. Environmental considerations included discovery of wild orchids that involved a careful relocation strategy to be employed.
