Allington Lock is the first of the ten locks on the Medway Navigation and has undergone site transformation and enhancement, including major works to the river side, moorings and boaters’ facilities.

Part of the enhancement works was to refurbish and covert the existing Grade 2 Listed Lock House to provide office and meeting rooms for the Medway Navigation Team. The derelict single storey outbuilding was substantially re-built and put back into use as welfare facilities for EA staff but also included public accessible toilet and changing accommodation and made available for public use in conjunction with an amenity space created around Lock House.

GCP were also involved in the design of the new Boaters Sanitation Building and currently working on upgrade works to the Lock Keepers Cottages all contained on the site.
